In 1998, a friend gave me James Gleich’s book Chaos. It transformed me, sparking an interest in physics and science, and fed my love of history and change.

It led me to read a lot of physics-for-dummies books and I became fascinated with it, without the math.

When my self-education stalled, I realized the math was important, too. I’m now re-learning the basics and beyond with online resources.

Physics began to inform a lot of my creative life -- from poetry to art, to just how I walk around in the world.

And I love the mystery of it.
